Cookie Policy
Last updated: September 2026
This Cookie Policy describes what cookies are, which types the Komparoo website (operated by Kangaroo Media S.L.) uses and how users can manage their consent. It complements the Legal Notice and the Privacy Policy.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on the user’s device when they visit it. Cookies allow the site to remember the user’s activity or preferences for a given period.
Komparoo uses both first-party cookies (served from the komparoo.uk domain and its national variants) and third-party cookies (served by external providers such as Google).
2. Cookies and storage we use
Strictly necessary (no consent required)
komparoo.consent.v1— first-party local storage. Stores the user’s consent choice (accept / reject / selection by category) so that they are not asked again on every visit. Duration: 12 months; after that, they are asked again.
Functional (consent required)
kw-recents— first-party local storage. Stores the latest searches made on the Site (up to eight) in the browser so that they can be offered again in the search box; the list is not sent to Komparoo. Users can delete them from the search box itself and, if they withdraw consent, they are no longer read or saved. Duration: until the user deletes them or clears the browser’s data.km_sid— first-party cookie. A random identifier created the first time the user clicks on an offer, which allows their clicks on offers from that browser to be linked to one another. It contains no user data. It is only set if the user has accepted functional cookies. Duration: 30 days.
Analytics / measurement (consent required)
_gaand_ga_*— Google Analytics 4 cookies (Google Ireland Ltd.), loaded through Google Tag Manager. They measure, in aggregate, how the Site is used. Duration: up to 24 months. Until the user gives this consent, measurement runs in cookieless mode (Consent Mode) and no identifier is stored on their device. Google’s privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
Affiliate (on third-party domains)
When users click on an offer, they are taken to the retailer through the relevant affiliate network (CJ Affiliate, Awin, Tradedoubler, Webgains, among others). These platforms may set cookies on their own domains and on the retailer’s to attribute the visit, in accordance with their respective cookie policies, which are presented to the user on those sites. Komparoo does not set advertising cookies on this Site.
3. Managing consent
The first time users visit the Site, they see Komparoo’s own consent panel, integrated with Google’s Consent Mode. Nothing other than what is strictly necessary is activated until the user decides. From that panel, they can, just as easily and in the same layer:
- Accept all cookies.
- Reject all non-essential cookies.
- Customise their consent by category.
Users can change or withdraw their consent at any time using the ‘Cookie settings’ link in the footer. The choice is kept for 12 months; after that, the panel is shown again.
4. Disabling cookies in the browser
Regardless of the CMP, users can set their browser to block or delete cookies. Instructions are available in each browser’s official documentation:
Please bear in mind that disabling certain cookies may affect the proper functioning of the Site.
5. Changes
Komparoo may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in the legislation or in the providers used. Changes will be published on this page, together with the date of the update.
